One of my favorite things to do as a photographer is volunteer for small, non profit organizations. It is a great way to give back to the community while revitalizing your spark for photography and to feel truly valued.
These photos are from a free sports camp for kids hosted by a relatively new organization called Hapa Mana. This organization is “dedicated to bringing together communities and furthering future opportunities for youth through sports and the benefits reaped from team bonds.” I met the founder of this organization, Jordan Conley, during a video shoot where he was volunteering his time to help promote the Honolulu Club as well as his friend, Christian, who was shooting the video. After the video shoot, he approached me to talk about his organization and to see if I would be interested in volunteering. I’m extremely glad that I said “yes” because this event definitely had an impact on the community, and it was so much fun to be a part of it.
Here are some of my favorite pictures from the first ever sports day hosted by Hapa Mana. Be sure to check out their website to learn more about the organization: www.hapamana.org
