I LOVE this camera! (Fuji XT-20)

One of my biggest struggles thus far as a photographer has been finding things to shoot. Well, actually, that's not true at all. I ALWAYS find things to shoot, but I NEVER have my camera with me when I do! I spent two years trying to motivate myself to lug around my giant Canon 6D on hikes, or to restaurants, or to hang out with my friends. Every time I put on the huge backpack full of camera gear, I would grunt and moan about how inconvenient it was. I am over here trying to become a minimalist and I am bringing a bag full of stuff everywhere I go. How does that make sense? I was also tired of people looking at me like I am some sort of "wanna-be" photographer with my fancy DSLR pointing at a bowl of mac-n-cheese. As dramatic as it sounds, a little piece of me died every time I went out with that bulky camera set-up.

This is an image of my baby (fuji xt-20) that I took on my bed using my favorite window lighting (bedroom window). I was inspired after watching Peter McKinnon's recent video about product photography (found here: https://youtu.be/l0jGg-MUd-U). Taking this image inspired me to write this post about my love for this camera!

About six months ago, I became too fed-up with seeing other photographers have beautiful images from situations in which I would never bring a DSLR (coffee shops, bike rides, friends houses, etc...). Mirrorless cameras had been in the back of my mind for a while and I decided to get one. This purchase was completely on a whim and I knew very little about mirrorless systems at the time. I saw a picture of the Fujifilm XT-20 and fell in love with the aesthetics. This camera could have been complete crap and I would have STILL convinced myself to buy it. Needless to say, I trusted my Na'au (gut) and bought it online without even trying it. I have never been happier with a purchase in my entire life!

Since that time, I have purchased a Canon 5D mark IV, and would STILL choose the FujiFilm XT-20 over it (if it could get the same quality photos). There is something magic about this camera and I can't quite put my finger on what it is (granted, I have done absolutely no research into this camera, so I'm sure I could figure it out if I did, but I'd rather think it's magic). I have been able to bring this camera with me almost everywhere I've gone (without feeling like an idiot. well sometimes I still do, but I digress), and have turned out some of my favorite photographs. So here are some of my favorite images that I have taken with the Fujifilm XT-20 over the last six months.
